Nosebleed ("Nosebleed," "we," "us") is a watch-party social app for sports fans. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Nosebleed you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, Apple, or email/password, we (via Firebase Authentication) receive your email address and, if you choose, a display name and profile photo. You can also add a short bio and pick favorite teams.
Content you create. Games you log, your watch history and results, memories (text and photos) attached to games, posts you share to The Sideline, comments, emoji reactions, chat messages, and Pick 'Ems picks.
Social and presence information. Friend requests and friendships, and "currently watching" status when you check in to a game — this is shown live to other signed-in users so you can find friends watching the same thing.
Safety information. Reports you file, and any accounts you block or mute.
Push notification data. If you turn on push notifications, we store a device token (used to deliver notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging) and your notification preferences.
Technical information. Standard technical data Firebase collects to operate the service (e.g. authentication tokens, basic device/browser information tied to a notification token).
How we use your information
- To operate core features: your profile, watch history, live presence, chats, Pick 'Ems, and The Sideline feed.
- To show you scores and news, which we fetch from public sports data sources (see "Third-party services" below) — this doesn't involve sending your personal information to those sources.
- To send push notifications you've opted into (a friend starts watching, a friend request, a message, a reaction or comment).
- To keep the app safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our Community Guidelines, and preventing abuse.
- To maintain and improve the app.
How information is shared
Nosebleed is a social app, so some information is inherently visible to other signed-in users by design: your profile, watch history, live "currently watching" status, public game memories, Sideline posts, comments, reactions, and messages in chats you're part of. Friend requests and friendships are visible to any signed-in user. Private memories (marked as such) are visible only to you.
We do not sell your information. We share information with service providers only as needed to run the app — primarily Google Firebase / Google Cloud, which hosts our authentication, database, file storage, hosting, and push notification delivery. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking networks.
Third-party services
Scores and news are fetched client-side from public APIs (ESPN, Google News) and, when needed, routed through a proxy (a Cloudflare Worker we run, with a few public fallback proxies) to work around browser restrictions. These are read-only requests for public sports data — they don't carry your account information.
Data retention
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account exists. Live "currently watching" presence expires automatically and is removed shortly after a game ends or you stop watching. Chat messages can't be edited or deleted once sent, the same as most group chat products. If you delete your account (see below), we delete your profile, watch history, memories, posts, and related data.
Your choices
- Edit or remove your content — update your profile anytime; remove your own comments, reactions, and shared posts.
- Control notifications — turn push notifications on/off, and by category, in Edit Profile.
- Block or report — block anyone from their profile, or report content/users that break our Community Guidelines.
- Delete your account — Nosebleed has in-app account deletion (Edit Profile → Danger zone). This removes your profile, watch history, posts, and memories.
Children's privacy
Nosebleed is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Security
We use Firebase's security infrastructure and our own access rules to restrict who can read and write your data — for example, private memories are readable only by you, and only you can edit your own profile. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Nosebleed changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above; if a change is significant, we'll make that clear in the app.
